CU Lion Show Case at the ACAA 20th Anniversary

Want to recall your good old days or fuel your entrepreneurial or artistic spirit? Want to see what student life is like at Columbia today? Then come to our Student Showcase and hear from current students all about the great work they are doing both in and outside of Columbia University. Selected from a diverse group of students from various schools of Columbia, our student presenters will take you on a tour of their passions and missions including world-changing projects, artistic pursuits and intercultural exchanges in their 10-minute showcase.

We are excited to have the following groups/individuals at the showcase:

1.    Jason Kang, Kevin Tyan and Katherine Jin, rising seniors at CC and SEAS and recipients of Forbes “30 under 30s” Healthcare category, will be introducing their pioneering Ebola-fighting project. You’ll hear what inspired them to start the project and what they have learned from the process.

2.    Shirley Lu Dai, founder of CU China Dance, will share her story about how and why she started CU China Dance, a student dance group performing authentic traditional Chinese dance. She will talk about her identity as an artist and as an international student in the U.S.

3.    JASSA (Japan Study Student Association), SIPA’s Japanese Graduate Student group, will be presenting their annual Japan trip, which fosters great intercultural dialogues.

4.    Bingcong Zhu, originally from Shanghai and now a senior at Columbia College, is a long-time performer of Chinese Crosstalk or "Xiangsheng," a traditional Chinese comedic performance. As a proud international student, she will perform a stand-up comedy bit based on her unique intercultural perspective.
