Nick Yen graduated from SEAS with his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1991 and MS in 1992. Mr. Yen is both an engineer and entrepreneur having started an upscale restaurant/bar called Orgo (in a tribute to Orgo Night at Columbia) in Singapore while managing his plastics factory.
Nick has been working with the school actively since starting as a tour guide in his sophomore year. He is a founding member of the Columbia University Club of Singapore and is currently President Emeritus for the club. He is also the co-chair of the Alumni Representative Committee (ARC) in Singapore. Since joining the CAA board near the end of 2013, besides working with alumni residing in Singapore and students interested in applying to Columbia, Nick has been connecting with alumni leaders around Asia to create more Asia-wide initiatives.
In trying to live up to his Columbia education, Nick has dabbled in design as well and has shown his works in Tokyo, Kanazawa and New York. He has a black belt in karate although Pilates beckons as age catches up. Besides working with Columbia, he also sits on the board of the alumni association of a prominent high school in Singapore.
