Gene Eng, SEAS ’81, Mentoring Program; Membership

Gene Eng has more than 25 years of consulting engineering experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial, educational, health care, industrial and residential buildings and facilities.  He is Principal of the consulting engineering firm GC Eng & Associates, which he founded in 1993.  His medium-sized firm conducts mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering system designs, as well as consulting and commissioning projects, ranging from corporate interior renovations, to retrofitting and upgrading existing building MEP shell and core systems, to new building construction support.

As founder of the firm, Mr. Eng’s responsibilities include business development, marketing, project presentations, day-to-day operation and management of the firm.  Mr. Eng is personally involved in most projects as the principal-in-charge and communicates directly with clients. Mr. Eng also personally guides many projects from inception to final completion, through various stages of preliminaries, schematics, design development, working drawings and construction phases.  Also, Mr. Eng is capable of discussing all technical aspects of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems with most clients in order to tailor the firm’s capabilities to meet clients’ goals.

Prior to founding his own firm, he worked at engineering firms Syska & Hennessy and Lehr Associates.  Mr. Eng received a Bachelors Degree of Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 1981, and a Professional Engineering License from New York State in 1988, as the first of many state licenses via comity.
